What to do This Weekend With the Kids

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y.-- If you are looking for something to do with the kids this weekend check out some of these events being held around town.

Music lovers should head to the Battle of the Bands competition at Playland Park in Rye on Friday to see what young musicians in our area have to offer. Local bands will take to the Music Tower Theater starting at 6pm.  Bands competing include Forever and After from Hawthorne, N.Y., Pier 54 from Ardsley, N.Y., Howling Hour from Yonkers, N.Y., Counterfeit Society from Valhalla, N.Y., Nepenthe from Cortland Manor, N.Y. and Short Bus from Eastchester, N.Y. Parking cost $5 and regular admissions into Playland Park applies.

The Mt. Kisco Farmer’s Market at the Boys and Girls Club of Northern Westchester may not have returned this year, but that doesn’t mean the residents of Mt. Kisco can’t have locally grown goods this summer. The Chappaqua Farmer’s Market is located only a short drive away at the Chappaqua train station and is open every Saturday this summer from 8:30am to 1:30pm.

Caramoor's Summer Music Festival is a great place to go to hear world class music in a lovely setting. On Saturday,  Oumou Sangaré and Her Band will be playing the Spanish courtyard at Caramoor starting at 8pm. Tickets range from $16 to $67. Go early and enjoy a picnic in the gardens on the grounds. Prepared picnic baskets can even be bought.
