BEDFORD, N.Y. -- Author William Stolzenburg will present "Heart of the Lion: A Lone Cat's Walk Across America" at Westmoreland Sanctuary on Saturday, May 21.
Stolzenburg will present the two-year, two thousand-mile journey of a young mountain lion from its home in the Black Hills of South Dakota before ending tragically on a Connecticut parkway.
The free, public presentation begins at 3 p.m. and will feature images, film and first-hand accounts from people whose lives were touched by the mountain lion and his odyssey.
Chris Spatz from the Cougar Rewilding Foundation will also give an overview of the status of cougars in the Northeast.
Westmoreland Sanctuary is at 260 Chestnut Ridge Road, which in the town of Bedford has a Mount Kisco postal address.
