Austin Francis Cassidy, 64, Mt. Kisco Building Inspector

MT. KISCO, N.Y. - Austin Francis Cassidy of Mt. Kisco died Nov. 1. He was 64.

Cassidy was born Oct. 4, 1949, in the Bronx, to Theresa Walsh Cassidy and Edward Cassidy.  He graduated from Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains and received a BA in psychology from Manhattan College and a master's in forensic science from Yale University.

Cassidy was known in Westchester as an arson investigator. He worked for many years for the village of Mt. Kisco, where his positions included fire inspector, code enforcer, assistant building inspector and lastly building inspector. In the 1970's he volunteered as a special police officer with the Mt. Kisco police department. During the early to mid 1980's he served as fire chief with the Mt Kisco Union Hook and Ladder Co.

Cassudy is survived by his wife, Marsha Jayko, of Mt. Kisco; daughter, Tara Cassidy of Hopewell Junction; two grandchildren; brother, Brendan and Janet Cassidy of Norristown, Pa.; stepchildren, Aimee Nyarady of Ridgefield, Alexander Jayko of Rye; a step granddaughter; two goddaughters; many cousins; and friends.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Mt. Kisco.
