Barbara Worfolk Porter, 79, Former Resident Of Mount Kisco

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Barbara (Diane) Worfolk Porter of Fort Lauderdale, formerly of Mt. Kisco, died Dec. 1. She was 79

Porter was born to Edmund L. Worfolk and Helen Roberts Worfolk. She was raised in Chatham, N.J. She graduated from Middlebury College in 1956. She was a longtime resident of Mt. Kisco. She and her husband, Bill retired to Ft. Lauderdale in the 1990's.

She was the finance chair of the United Fund of Northern Westchester, as well as chair of Planned Parenthood of Northern Westchester. She was a co-leader of the campaign for S.W.I.M, a community pool initiative. She was also the president of the Horace Greeley HS PTA and was elected twice to the Chappaqua Board of Education, serving as president for two years.

Porter is survived by her husband, William P. Porter; children, William P. Porter, Jr. (Leanne) of Ft. Lauderdale, Richard W. Porter (Lydia) of Winnetka, Ill., Stephen B. Porter (Cay) White of Mt. Kisco, and Deborah Porter Safford (John) of South Hamilton, Mass.; 12 beloved grandchildren; brother, Donald Worfolk of Cottonwood, Ariz.

A memorial service to celebrate Porter's life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6 at St. Mark's Church, 85 East Main St., Mt. Kisco, NY 10549.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Building Fund at Christ Episcopal Church, 11 Park St, Guilford, CT 06437, or to St. Mark's Church.
