Edward T. Hardy, 79, Longtime Mt. Kisco Resident, Longtime Fire Inspector

MT. KISCO, N.Y. - Edward T. Hardy, a 51 year resident of Mt. Kisco, died Friday, Sept. 20. He was 79.

Hardy was born June 14, 1934, in New Rochelle, to Retired Lt. John Edward Hardy (NRFD) and Elizabeth Nolan Hardy. He graduated from Blessed Sacrament High School in 1952 and from Iona College in 1956. He was discharged from The United States Naval Reserves in 1961. He was a member of the Mt. Kisco community serving as president of the Mt. Kisco Little League, sergeant at arms and marching instructor for the Mount Kisco Ancient Fife and Drum Corps., and as a longtime member of the Mt. Kisco Independent Fire Company where he served as fire captain, company president, member of the Board of Governors, financial secretary, sergeant at arms, and president of Mount Kisco Volunteer Fire Department Old Timers Club. In 2002 he became a fire inspector, for the village of Mt. Kisco a position he held until June 23, 2013. He was employed for many years in the moving and storage business, most recently 15 years for Gold Service Moving and Storage, Co. of White Plains.

Hardy is survived by his wife, Marilyn; children, Margaret Ellen of Stamford (Robert Monson), Mary Beth (Neal Merbaum) of Boston, Mass., and Thomas Edward (Patricia Sullivan) of South Weymouth, Mass.; and four grandchildren.

Calling hours are Monday, Sept. 23 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24 at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery New Rochelle.
