Mt. KISCO, N.Y. - Katherine Van Cortlandt Wilberding, a long-time resident of Bedford, died Aug. 22. She was 94.
Wilberding was educated at St. Timothy's School, Stevenson, Md. She attended courses at the Art Students' League in New York City. She was a full-time housewife and mother, but also active in civic organizations and tennis. A lifelong parishioner of St. Mark's Church, Mt.Kisco, she was a member of the Vestry for many years. She was the first female Senior Warden in the Episcopal Diocese of New York.
Wilberding is survived by her children, Katherine Garcia of Dalton, Mass., Stephen Van Cortlandt Wilberding of Nokomis, Fla., Joan Hirte of Darmstadt, Germany, and Augusta Laidlaw of McCall, Idaho; their spouses; ten grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph C Wilberding.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Mt. Kisco.
