WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. - Michael Hurton of Wappingers Falls, former resident of Mount Kisco, died Tuesday, June 10. He was 86.
Hurton was born Jan. 3, 1928, in Dungarvan, County Waterford, Ireland, he was the son of Patrick and Margaret (Power) Hurton. He attended the Christian Brothers schools. He arrived in the United States in 1951 and went into the Army in 1952, where he served in Korea and Japan. He worked at Kensico Tube for 21 years and later was employed by the Bedford Central School District. A longtime member of the Frank Fox Division 16 of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. In addition to being active in the Hibernians, he was the second vice commander of the Moses Taylor, Jr. Post 136 of the American Legion, as well as a member of the Sisqua Council #1852, Knights of Columbus, the Waterford Men's Association of New York and an usher at St. Francis of Assisi Church.
Hurton is survived by his daughters, Rosemary Beliakoff (Douglas) of Costa Mesa, Calif., and Sheila DuPell of Stormville; three grandchildren; sister, Joan Johnstone (John); and brother, John (Eileen); and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Angelina (Perri); and siblings, Pauline, Patrick, Greta, Doris, Maurice and Mossy.
Calling hours are Friday, June 13 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cassidy-Flynn Funeral Home, 288 East Main St., Mount Kisco, 914-666-4840. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, June 14 at St. Francis of Assisi Church.
