MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. – Vivian Liburdy Burr, a former Connecticut town clerk born in Mount Kisco, died Jan. 20 at her home in Trumbull, Conn., after a prolonged illness. She was 90.
Born July 5, 1922, Burr was the daughter of Frank and Nicolena Buzzutto Liburdy. She was active in the Parent Teacher Association, St. Mary's and St. Theresa Women's Guild, church choirs, the Trumbull Historical Society and the Trumbull Republican Party.
She served as chairman of planning and zoning and as Trumbull Town Clerk for eight years. She also ran for First Selectman. Although she wasn’t elected, Burr continued to be active in politics until her early 80s.
She enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in activities and her great-grandsons play sports, draw and paint.
Burr is survived by her husband, George Burr; two children, George (MaryAnn) Burr, of Shelton, Conn., and Suzanne (Domenic Monaco) Burr, of Trumbull; two grandchildren; and four great-grandsons.
She also is survived by a brother, Frank (Fran) Liburdy, of Shelton; and several nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Sands, of Florida.
Funeral services were Wednesday at Abriola Parkview Funeral Home in Trumbull and St. Theresa Church in Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Carrano Scholarship Fund at Notre Dame High School, 220 Jefferson St., Fairfield, CT 06825.
