As a parent and a member of the community, I am appalled to hear that anyone may have been harassing opponent’s children, and I hope she seeks a substantive and legal remedy in addition to an op ed. If I were to find out the specifics of anyone who supports me engaging in such behaviors I would immediately distance myself from that person.

I have been banging the drum for accountability regarding bullying, and violations of district policy 4350 since my daughter was bullied in elementary school seven years ago. I believe every child and parent should feel secure in the knowledge that their child is safe at school and their family is respected.

Mostly, I believe these situations are rare, but when they occur, expectations that a solution should be embraced, rather than avoided. I have a specific set of actions that I would hope to see implemented should I get elected.

I believe they would be enhancing to our current policies, while addressing whatever issues arise. Further, if implemented I believe an effective anti-bullying policy would better protect the district from future lawsuits

You will not find me having said one negative or specious comment about my opponent.

Having attended many school board meetings over several years, with children who have been educated in Bedford Central School District’s elementary, middle, and high schools, I know many of our school district’s strengths and weakness.

I hope to support improvements to some programs, while maintaining of the programs that are excellent.  The quality of our children’s education in our public schools is what this election is about.

Friends have forwarded me emails from my opponent’s supporters that make blatant mischaracterizations about me. Some come from PTA groups, friends of the foundation, and from sitting board members.

My motivation to run for the Bedford Central School District Board is solely to improve the quality of education of all our children and to ensure they have a safe and supportive environment in which to learn.

I believe that the community members deserve a trustee who does not put the feelings of an administrator over the needs of the children in our schools. I would like to see changes in Board Governance and Election Procedures to avoid any future unfair practices directed at any candidate.

In addition to previous stated goals, I would like transparency in resource allocation, improvements in Special Education, and attention to children in the middle who may be experiencing reduction of enrichment opportunities. Further, I would like to see our budget deficit addressed with a concrete plan.

Lastly, some of the information in my opponent’s editorial is news to me! I am proud of not running a dirty campaign. I am an open book and have no secrets.
