Manhattan resident Davon Hinds was arrested on Monday and charged with a felony count of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument after being busted with the illegal checks.

According to police, an investigation into Hinds determined that he was in possession of multiple forged $1,000 checks that were drawn from a Manhattan man’s bank account. Hinds attempted to cash the checks at Citibank locations in Yorktown and Cortlandt on Monday before “an alert bank employee” contacted state police regarding the suspicious checks.

Hinds was arraigned in the Town of Cortlandt Count and remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or bond. He is due back in court in both Cortlandt and Yorktown on Thursday.
