Police said an officer observed a 1995 Toyota traveling south on Hanover Street failing to maintain its lane. A routine traffic stop was conducted and the operator was identified as Umana-Contreras, police said. Further investigation revealed the Umana-Contrera was driving while intoxicated, police said.
He was charged with driving while intoxicated and driving with a blood alcohol content of more than 0.08 percent, both misdemeanors, and failure to maintain lane, unlicensed operator and obstructed view, all traffic infractions.
Umana-Contreras was released on $175 cash bailr. He is scheduled to be in Yorktown Justice Court at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 28.
