Joseph C. Schiavone, 29, is charged with felony aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, misdemeanor DWI, and two violations – unlawful possession of fireworks and illegally passing a steady red traffic signal, police said.
Schiavone’s arrest stemmed from an incident Saturday night near Downing Drive and Veterans Road, according to police.
About 11:20 p.m., two officers say that Schiavone illegally passed a steady red traffic signal and as a result they pulled him over.
They soon discovered that he was driving under a suspended driver’s license, driving under the influence, and illegally possessed fireworks, according to police.
Officers arrested Schiavone and transported him to the Yorktown Police Department for booking.
During that process, authorities say they learned that Schiavone had an active arrest warrant against him from police in Carmel.
The nature of that warrant was not listed in the press release.
Schiavone was released from Yorktown on a $250 bail, then turned over to the Carmel Police Department.
Schiavone is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Tuesday, June 23, to answer to the felony, misdemeanor, and violation charges, police said.
