New Castle Police Nab Man Accused Of Burglary, Shotgun Theft

A Patterson man took police on a short foot chase on Monday afternoon after being identified as a person of interest who may have stolen a shotgun from the Campfire Club in New Castle.

New Castle Police Department said on Tuesday that Brian Windover was facing gun and burglary charges following an investigation into a burglary reported at the Campfire Club on Campfire Road.

According to police, at approximately 3 p.m., while investigating the burglary of a shotgun, Windover was identified as a person of interest walking on the Catskill aqueduct trail. He attempted to flee from police through the woods, but was apprehended shortly thereafter on Millwood Road.

Windover was found to be in possession of a loaded .38 caliber revolver and the stolen shotgun was recovered. He was charged with burglary and criminal possession of a weapon by New Castle police. Windover remains remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or bond. He is due back in court on Thursday, Feb. 9.
