Police: Missing Yorktown Man Dies In New Castle Crash

NEW CASTLE, N.Y. -- The 78-year-old Yorktown man who was reported missing Monday was found dead in a single-vehicle crash in New Castle, police said Tuesday. 

Yorktown Heights resident Garrison "Gary" R. Corwin Jr., who was last seen Sunday night in Rye, was discovered dead in his vehicle in New Castle Monday night, police said.

Garrison "Gary" R. Corwin Jr., of Yorktown Heights, was pronounced dead shortly after 9 p.m. Monday after New York State Police and New Castle Police discovered his silver Mini Cooper over an embankment on Campfire Road and the Taconic State Parkway in Millwood, New Castle Police said Tuesday. Corwin had last been seen leaving the American Yacht Club in Rye at around 7:15 p.m. Sunday, Yorktown Police previously reported.

The New Castle Police Department is conducting an investigation into the crash, police said in a press release. The department was assisted on-scene by the New York State Police, Yorktown Police, the Chappaqua Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Westchester EMS, Millwood Fire Department and the Office of the Westchester Medical Examiner.
