Officers noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, police said.

During the investigation, officers found marijuana, a metal grinder with marijuana residue, rolling papers, a glass jar containing 303 Xanax 2-milligram pills, a package of various cigars, two boxes of zip-lock bags and $1,420 in cash inside the car, police said.

The occupant of the car — Aaron Zachary Kaplan — told officers the items all belonged to him, police said.

Kaplan was arrested and charged with the sale of a controlled substance, sale of hallucinogen/narcotic, use and possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.

He was held on $10,000 bond for a court appearance on Aug. 22.

Kaplan was not charged with taking the car without permission because the owner did not want to pursue to charge, police said.
