Putnam Valley Man Charged With Violating Order Of Protection

PUTNAM VALLEY, N.Y. -- A 31-year-old Putnam Valley man has been charged with violating an order of protection that was issued when an investigation revealed he had assaulted a female victim, state police said.

Brett Augustowski was charged with criminal contempt in the first degree, a Class E felony, on Wednesday.

Troopers responded to Augustowski’s residence on Wednesday where an investigation revealed he had assaulted a female victim in violation of an active order of protection, police said.

Augustowski was also arrested a day earlier for criminal contempt in the second degree, a Class A misdemeanor, for harassing the victim in violation of the order of protection.

Augustowski was arraigned at the Putnam Valley Town Court by the Honorable Gina Capone and remanded to Putnam County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail or $10,000 bond. Augustowski is due back in Putnam Town Court on May 31.
