BEDFORD, N.Y. - Bedford Police were called to Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s residence at 284 Guard Hill Road late Tuesday night for a report of a possible break-in.
Mount Kisco Police received a call from an unidentified resident of the home who said someone was banging on the front door and window and had broken a window, police said.
According to Bedford police, who were called to the scene by Mount Kisco police, the 19-year-old man appeared to be intoxicated and seemed to have been trying to contact someone, possibly to get a ride home.
Bedford Police contacted Kennedy, who said he did not want to pursue any criminal charges, police said.
The teen was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital, where he was treated and released for lacerations on his hand and arm sustained when he broke the window, police said, and he agreed to pay for the damage.
"I don't even think the individual who did this knew whose house it was," said Bedford Police Lieutenant Jeff Dickan. It was probably just that individual's bad luck that the house he happened to pick was Kennedy's, Dickan said.
Kennedy had rented the house in part to be close to 326 S Bedford Road, where his children sometimes lived. Kennedy's estranged wife, Mary Richardson Kennedy, was discovered to have hung herself in a barn there May 16.
