MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. – Following a May 9 joint investigation into the sale of alcoholic beverages to a minor—a person under the age of 21—from the New York State Liquor Authority and Mount Kisco Police Department, three persons and businesses were charged with “Prohibited Sale of an Alcoholic Beverage to a minor.”
Mount Kisco Police said following charges have been made:
- Joseph R. Ugalde, age 44 of Danbury Ct, employed at the time with Mt Kisco Deli & Grocery located at 89 Maple Avenue, Mt Kisco.
- Ghulam Abbas, age 36 of White Plains NY employed at the time with Jayambe Market Inc. d.b.a. Newport Market located at 15 Kirby Plaza, Mt Kisco.
- Angel Quezada, age 45 of Sleepy Hollow NY employed at the time with Angelo’s Deli located at 165 Main Street, Mt Kisco NY.
All three defendants are scheduled to appear in Mount Kisco Town Court on Thursday June 6 at 7 p.m.
The investigation was partly funded by a grant awarded to the Village Town of Mount Kisco from the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) grant program and implemented by the Mount Kisco Drug & Alcohol Abuse Prevention Council. The grant helps local officials attempt to curb drug use among Mount Kisco’s youth. State law mandates you be at least 21 years of age to purchase alcoholic beverages.
Police said Mount Kisco businesses are safe to assume covert investigations of this nature will continue.
