In January, residents of Mount Kisco were unnerved by a strange series of incidents. Over the span of two days, the village saw two unrelated pedestrian accidents involving New York State Police officers. In each case, a state trooper accidentally struck a person crossing a street in Mount Kisco.

In the first accident, Dolce M. Perez, a 22-year-old Mount Kisco resident, was crossing to the northbound side of West Main Street around 10 a.m. Jan. 18 when she was struck by State Police Sgt. Joseph Cristino, according to State Police Maj. Michael Kopy. Perez was taken to Westchester Medical Center with a head injury, said Kopy.

In the second, which occurred at approximately 7 p.m. on Jan. 19 , Mount Kisco resident Jeronimo Ardon Perez, 50, was crossing North Bedford Road when he was hit by off-duty State Police Investigator Gregory Panzarella, police said.

At the time, Kopy told The Daily Voice two such accidents happening on consecutive days was only a coincidence. "There are hundreds of cars we're operating throughout the troop any time or any day," he said, "and we happened to have two accidents at the same time in the same place."
