Verbal Dispute Outside Katonah Pharmacy Among Bedford Police Calls

BEDFORD, N.Y. - A Good Samaritan who attempted to stop a motorist following a fender-bender outside of a Katonah pharmacy nearly found himself in a physical altercation requiring police intervention.

At approximately 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, a verbal dispute broke out in front of Weinstein’s pharmacy on Katonah Road after a driver struck a parked car as he was pulling out of a parking space .and a passerby attempted to alert him

According to police, the pedestrian that saw the accident told the driver to stop, leading to an argument that had to be broken up before police arrived. Officers separated the two men, who reportedly acted calmly as an accident report was completed.

  • On Saturday, April 1, an off-duty Bedford police officer assisted state police in tracking down a motorist who was driving under the influence near Baldwin Place in Somers. The officer notified state and local police, who was able to track the man down. The driver was arrested and charged with DUI and possession of Vicodin and cocaine.
  • The following night, police were dispatched to the Village Green in Bedford, where there was a reported disturbance. Upon arrival, the person in charge of the temporary homeless shelter at the Bedford Presbyterian Church told police that two clients had gotten into an altercation. The two men were told to leave, and police said they transported them to two separate locations in Mount Kisco.
