Wrong-Way Northern Westchester Driver Was Drunk, Police Say

A 28-year-old Yorktown man was charged with driving while ability impaired by alcohol on Wednesday following a complaint of a wrong-way driver on the Taconic State Parkway.

New York State Police from the Hawthorne barracks arrested Andrew R. Kothe for DWAI with a prior conviction within 10 years, a class E felony.

At about 12:30 a.m., state troopers received a complaint of a wrong-way driver on the Taconic State Parkway in the town of Yorktown in the area of the walkway bridge.

Assisted by Yorktown Police Department the vehicle was located and stopped. The operator, Kothe, was found to be under the influence of alcohol, and was arrested.

Kothe was issued traffic tickets returnable to the town of Yorktown Court on Feb. 20 at 6 p.m.
