HARRISON, N.Y. -- Assemblyman David Buchwald (D-Westchester) recently announced that he received a "perfect legislative score" from the Environmental Advocates of New York.
Buchwald said in a press release that he was honored to have received the distinction from the "leading environmental watchdog group in the state." He added that it was a priority to "push for environmentally responsible legislation, and as a result, earned the highest grade in the state from the EANY," according to the press release from his office.
“I am honored by this recognition from the Environmental Advocates of New York, but the fight for good environmental policy is far from over,” Buchwald, a White Plains resident, said in the release. “As the frequency of extreme weather events – like those we’ve seen here in New York and across the globe – increase and non-renewable energy costs rise, the need for environmentally responsible legislation has never been more urgent. We are facing new challenges every day and we need to continue to pass legislation that protects our local communities and keeps our environment vibrant.”
Buchwald noted that he has sponsored and voted for "a number of bills that Environmental Advocates of New York has rated as a 'Major Benefit,'" according to the release.
“We need to ensure that New Yorkers face reduced risks of significant environmental damage,” said Assemblyman Buchwald. “We owe it to future generations to undertake these issues so that they can enjoy a healthy quality of life.”
Environmental Advocates Executive Director Dave Gahl said the group was "delighted" with Buchwald's accomplishments.
“We are delighted that Assemblyman Buchwald, in just his first year, has risen to the challenge of protecting our environment,” said Gahl in the release. “In matters ranging from energy efficiency to clean water and clean air, Assemblyman Buchwald took the right votes for New York, and we’re proud that he earned a perfect score.”
