Republican Maisano Joins George Latimer Administration As Commissioner

Longtime Republican County Legislator Jim Maisano has taken a job with the administration of Westchester County Executive George Latimer, requiring a special election to fill his District 11 seat, which covers New Rochelle and the Town of Pelham.

Maisano has been a county legislator for 20 years. More on him can be read by clicking here. Maisano was currently the longest-serving Republican on the county Board of Legislators. 

Mainsano is the new commissioner of the county’s Department of Consumer Protection, it was announced at a Friday news conference.

Maisano, a lawyer, served as the BOL vice chairman from 2014-17. He’s also worked as a special counsel for state Senate Republicans. Latimer,, a Democrat, is a former state senator.

Once Maisano resigns his legislative seat. a special election must be held within 90 days under county law. Democrats hold a 12-5 majority on the county BOL.There are about twice as many registered Democrats living in Maisano's district than Republicans.
