What’s Happening Around Somers This Weekend

SOMERS, N.Y. – The 28th annual Antiques Fair at Lasdon Park & Arboretum is among the events planned in the Somers area this Labor Day weekend.

Friday, Aug. 31

Storywalk Continues: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Children are invited to take an outdoor walk through the Somers Library grounds to follow a story. At the end of the walk, there is a cookie waiting inside the library. The Somers Library is on Primrose Street in Reis Park.

Jazz at Le Fontane: Joey DiGrazia returns with John Fiscella on guitar and Steve Chetcuti on sax and flute, playing jazz standards and numbers from the American Songbook. Call 914-232-9619 for reservations. Le Fontane is at 137 Somerstown Road. (Route 100) in Somers.

Saturday, Sept. 1

At the end of the walk, there is a cookie waiting inside the library. The Somers Library is on Primrose Street in Reis Park. (Note: The library will close at 1 p.m.)

Sunday, Sept. 2

Golden Apple Bicycle Tour: 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. The annual tour, sponsored by the Westchester Cycle Club, offers a variety of options including the Golden Apple, the Candy Apple, the Dirty Apple and the Hill Climb Time Trial. See the website for more information. The ride begins and ends at Best Plumbing, Tile and Stone on Route 138 in Somers.

Farmers Market: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fresh produce, meats, cheese, soaps, candles, honey, maple syrup, flowers, fish and delicacies from local farmers and artisans are available. The Muscoot Farmers Market will continue every Sunday through October. Muscoot Farm is on Route 100, 1½ miles south of Route 35 in Somers.

Monday, Sept. 3 - Labor Day

The Somers Library and all government offices will be closed in observance of the holiday.

28th Annual Antiques Fair at Lasdon: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. As many as 70 vendors will feature antiques and collectibles such as maps, buttons, coins, glass, cookbooks,  jewelry, hats, linens, kitchenware, music, furniture, purses, pottery, silver, and much, much more. There will be live music, varieties of food and snacks and a professional appraiser. It’s on, rain or shine. Admission is $7 for adults, children under 13 enter free. There is no charge for on-site parking. Lasdon Park & Arboretum is on Route 35 in Somers.
