To the Editor:

On Tuesday, May 17, I will vote for Bedford Central school board candidates Michelle Brooks, Pam Harney and Michael Solomon.

Six consecutive years of higher taxes and six consecutive years of using $20 million in reserves to close budget gaps has led to this crisis and the school board has yet to reveal a credible plan that will lead the district to a balanced budget.

At some point, the school board has to be accountable for the results and consequences of the budgets they adopted; constantly blaming Albany and claiming bad luck are glaring examples of weak leadership.

Years of hoping and wishing while adopting budgets has caught up to the board members who are running for re-election.

Fortunately, voters no longer have to hope and wish for new leaders to emerge to set Bedford Central on a path to recovery.

Michelle Brooks, Pam Harney and Michael Solomon have stepped up on behalf of the entire community.

Please support them Tuesday, May 17.

Sincerely,

R. Michael Vidal
