School board members will serve as liaisons on a rotating basis, board President Susan Wollin said. The board agreed to the system with informal feedback at its Jan. 14 meeting.

District officials also praised a Jan. 6 meeting geared toward SEPTO and special education. Wollin and fellow board member Edward Reder attended the gathering, which included participation from Drew Patrick, the assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction.

Recalling the meeting, Wollin said there was an “ambitious agenda” and that administrators came to discuss curricular issues. She also noted the high turnout, saying there was “standing room only in the hallways.”

Reder noted the event's focus on basic information, calling the gathering an “orientation meeting for those parents.”

Superintendent Jere Hochman, who spoke positively of the meeting, agreed, saying it was “definitely an orientation for a lot of folks.”

Touching on SEPTO's recent activity, Hochman said the group is “very eager to just keep this momentum rolling."

Meanwhile, the district is undergoing a search for a new special-education director, with Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES serving as an outside facilitator. Hochman, in an interview, said he hopes to have someone named to the position by April, the same month when he hopes a new Pound Ridge Elementary School principal is selected.
