On Tuesday, voters overwhelmingly approved the proposed $129,072,250 spending plan, with a 2,233-774 vote. The budget increases spending by 1.79 percent and represents a tax levy increase of 1.92, under the state mandated cap.
Additionally, Edward Reder (1,723 votes) and William Canavan (1.717) were elected to three-year terms on the Bedford Board of Education, narrowly topping Marie Scanlan, whose 1,218 votes fell short of election.
By a large margin - 2,108 to 746 - voters also determined that future elections for Board of Education members should be run as an “at-large” bid, not for “specific seats.”
Bedford Schools Superintendent Christoper Manno notes that all numbers are unofficial.
‘Peaceful and civil elections are the sacred hallmark of our democracy,” he stated. “Thank you to everyone who participated in the election, including all of our Board of Education candidates.”
