Lakeland High School was evacuated at approximately 11 a.m. on Thursday to allow officers from the Yorktown Police Department and a bomb squad to investigate a written “non-specific” threat that was found in a bathroom, school officials said.

Officers from the Yorktown Police Department and Westchester County Bomb Squad responded to the school at approximately noon, with students and staff returning to the building shortly thereafter.

School officials said that the Yorktown Police Department will continue conducting an investigation into the threat, though the threat is not believed to be credible.

“We are taking extra precautions to ensure the safety of students and staff,” officials said, noting that there will be more information available on Thursday afternoon.
