Pace University's VOX Magazine Hosts Launch Event With Award-Winning Writer

PLEASANTVILLE, N..Y -- Pace University's VOX Arts and Literary Magazine, the English and Modern Language Studies Department and the Creative Writing Program, held a magazine launch event with a featured reading with award-winning writer Jean Valentine on Wednesday, Dec. 3.

The event was followed by a writing workshop with Valentine. The event also included student readings from the latest issue of VOX Arts and Literary Magazine, prize announcements and free copies of VOX.

Valentine won the Yale Younger Poets Award for her first book, Dream Barker, in 1965. Her 12th book of poetry is "Break the Glass". Her next book, "Shirt in Heaven," is forthcoming from Copper Canyon in 2015. 

"Door in the Mountain: New and Collected Poems 1965–2003" was the winner of the 2004 National Book Award for Poetry. Valentine was also the recipient of the 2009 Wallace Stevens Award from the Academy of American Poets. Additionally, she has taught at Sarah Lawrence, New York University and Columbia University. 

VOX Arts and Literary Magazine publishes the original poetry, prose, artwork and photography of the students, faculty and alumni of Pace University.
