WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- A New York City prosecutor and director of a domestic violence support group said the NFL's two-game suspension of New Rochelle's Ray Rice shows how little the NFL understands domestic violence, according to ESPN.

Judy Kluger said the suspension would have been expected 20 or 30 years ago, but doesn't fit the crime given the current understanding of domestic violence issues today, ESPN reported.

Kluger was also critical of the NFL showing leniency for this being Rice's first offense. Kluger feels domestic violence is not an offense that warrants a free pass for first-time offender, ESPN said.
