Harvey Boys Basketball Wins Opener

KATONAH, N.Y. -- The Harvey School’s boys varsity basketball team opened its season Wednesday, Dec. 4 with a win at home as the Cavaliers defeated Marvelwood 56-40.

Harvey came out strong, taking an early seven point lead, but Marvelwood cut the deficit to three going into halftime. Harvey widened its lead in the third quarter, starting out on a 6-0 run and eventually outscoring Marvelwood 16-8.

The visitors from Kent, Conn., saved their best shooting for the fourth quarter but could not score enough to overcome the sizable lead Harvey had built and held all the way to the final buzzer.

Junior guard Ricky Hicks led Harvey with 16 points. He also had 4 assists, five rebounds and two steals. Junior Sacha Kantor scored 10 points to help Hicks on offense. Senior Deshawn Hilliard pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds and chipped in with nine points. Jake Cohn of Pound Ridge, who scored seven points and grabbed six rebounds, led his team in assists with seven. Charlie Reznikoff of Marvelwood led all scorers with 17.

Harvey’s next game is Friday, Dec. 6 when the Cavaliers host Stamford Academy.
