Those who attend will have an extraordinary up close opportunity to hear the Yankee manager share stories about his days both as a player on the great Yankee teams of the late 1990s and about his time as the manager of the team since 2008. Girardi will also talk about his team’s prospects for the upcoming 2014 season.
Girardi, known as a solid defensive catcher and clutch hitter, enjoyed a 15-year career, playing for the Cubs, the Rockies, the Cardinals and the Yankees. The Purchase, N.Y., resident earned World Series rings as a member of the 1996, 1998 and 1999 world champion Yankees.
After retiring as a player, Girardi stayed in the game as a TV baseball commentator and major league coach before becoming the manager of the Florida Marlins in 2006. In 2009, his second year as the manager of the Yankees, Girardi guided the Yankees to their 27th world championship.
A ticket for Harvey Presents: An Evening with Joe Girardi is $50. Seating is limited. A sellout is expected for this rare opportunity to spend an evening with the manager of the New York Yankees. Tickets for the Meet and Greet are sold out.
Rye resident Jimmy Roberts of NBC Sports and The Golf Channel, a 13-time Emmy Award winning sports broadcaster, will serve as interviewer and moderator for the event Sunday Jan. 12, 2014 at 6 p.m.
