KATONAH, N.Y. - Harvey School cross country runner Sam Mackiewicz ran a personal best time of 20:17 Wednesday to win his third race of the season in the South Kent Invitational at South Kent, Connecticut.

Mackiewicz, a sophomore, conquered the hilly 4,950-meter course ahead of second-place finisher Kendrick Lechner of Chase Collegiate, who crossed the finish line at 20.34. Third place went to Atthaphon Kaiya of the New York Military Academy in 20:47.

Harvey coach Melissa Zeffer called the hilly South Kent course “the toughest in the league.” Zeffer said Harvey’s other runners, Nick Reber and Marshall Euchner, also did well in battling the tough course.

“I am very proud of our runners, and we look forward to competing at NYMA on Saturday," Zeffer said.

In addition to Harvey, Chase, and the academy, the six other schools at the meet were South Kent, Marvelwood, Oakwood Friends Academy, Christian Heritage, Darrow and Watkinson.
