MaxPreps Ranks Archbishop Stepinac at No. 2 in State

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Archbishop Stepinac’s football team remained second in the New York state high school football rankings compiled by MaxPreps, while New Rochelle jumped up 27 spots and into the top 50.

Stepinac (3-0) is ranked only behind Canisius of Buffalo. Iona Prep (27th), Rye Neck (28th), Yorktown (42nd) and New Rochelle (49th) were also ranked in the top 50 in the New York rankings.

Stepinac defeated Holy Cross, 49-7, while Iona Prep beat Cardinal Hayes, 20-7. Rye Neck had a bye week. Yorktown moved up seven spots with a 34-7 win over Pearl River, while the big mover was New Rochelle, which beat previously undefeated John Jay, 21-14.

Yorktown is ranked fifth in the state in Class A, and Rye (3-0) is ranked ninth. Rye Neck is ranked No. 3 in Class C.
