Pace Baseball Alum Signs With Arizona Diamondbacks

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Pace University baseball alum James Pjura has signed a free-agent contract with Major League Baseball's Arizona Diamondbacks and will report to spring training.

Pjura played four seasons as a Setter, and played in 161 games as an outfielder and designated hitter. He ranks 16th in school history with 171 hits, 15th in RBI with 103 and is tied for sixth in doubles with 43. He finished his career with 94 runs scored, 15 homeruns, five triples and was 18-for-21 in stolen bases in his four seasons. A former Northeast-10 Conference All-Rookie Team selection in 2011, Pjura was named to the NE-10 Third Team in 2012. In 2013, he was selected to the NE-10 First Team All-Conference as well as Daktronics and National Collegiate Baseball Writers First Team All-East Region. As a junior, he helped lead the Setters back to the NCAA Division II Tournament as the No. 5 seed for the first time since 1985. Pace defeated No. 2 seed Saint Thomas Aquinas in their first game before falling in their ensuing two games of the NCAA East Regional.
