Two Pace Volleyball Players, Swimmer Earn Honors

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Two Pace University volleyball players have earned Northeast-10 Conference honors.

Senior Nora Rugova, a Fox Lane High School graduate and Mount Kisco native, earned NE-10 Player of the Week honors while freshmen Megan Kurz earned NE-10 Rookie of the Week honors.

The two women have been instrumental in the Setters’ four-game winning streak. Rugova had 13 kills and 11 digs in the 3-0 shutout of Southern Connecticut State University on Oct. 16. She had 14 kills, 19 digs and two serving aces against Merrimack in a 3-1 win on Oct. 19. Rugova then accumulated 15 kills and 14 digs in a 3-1 win against UMass Lowell.

The senior is second in the conference in total kills with 267.

Kurz averaged 4.09 kills and 3.64 digs to go along with five total blocks in week eight of the season. She had 12 kills and 12 digs against Southern Connecticut, then had 17 kills, 12 digs and four blocks against Merrimack. She ended the week with 16 kills and 16 digs against UMass Lowell.

The Setters host Stonehill on Friday at 7 p.m., then travel to Dowling for a match on Saturday.

Swimming and Diving:

Pace freshman diver Jenny Palladino, a Pleasantville native and a Byram Hills High School graduate, earned NE-10 Conference Diver and Rookie of the Week honors after her first collegiate meet at the Rutgers Invitational.

She set a school record in the three-meter diving event with a score of 264.50 to finish in third place. She was a mere half-point shy of the NCAA automatic qualifying mark for championships.

The Setters will host their first home meet of the season when Manhattan College visits the Goldstein Fitness Center at 3 p.m.
