Chris Christie is one of the few Republicans of today, that I have any respect for...respect that would be lost if he would support Mr. Astorino for governor of NY.
As Mr. Christie saw in the past year, sometimes the party line either isn't the way to go or it just doesn't help.
What I'm hoping for are candidates that are running and taking action FOR the voters- not the special lobbyists, the super PAC people or the high party folks....just, us....you know, the people. View Comment
At the very least their alcohol license should be removed for a period of time, perhaps permanently if this was not the first offense. It's unfortunate that the employees either weren't trained appropriately or they just thought it doesn't matter.
Perhaps a visit to the morgue to view the results of what drunk driving can do, especially when a teen is involved, might help them understand the gravity of their failure to check for a legal ID. View Comment
Well, what do YOU think is suitable punishment for drinking too much alcohol, putting your kids in the car and driving on your merry way?
See, I think if you kill someone while dwi diu you should serve life because thats the sentence you subjected their loved ones to. View Comment
I can't wait! I'm not able to walk very well but I still would love to be able to enjoy the water from the boardwalk. Please remember those of us that can walk....but not very well...extra seating placed strategically for those of us with mobility issues would make it available to us too. View Comment
Am I just a bit dim this morning or does this make no sense to anyone else either? Who the hell voted this one in? A charge to LEAVE the city? That certainly smacks of desperation! I'm sure the idea that you have to pay to leave a attracts a lot of buyers...
I mean real buyers, not city business men buying up houses to rent out to social service clients or people that have folks coming and going at alarming rates for a supposed 2 family house....it's definitely time time to go...especially before the kids hit HS age
It might be safe but it smells like someone knocked over the bleach bottle in you glass, other times it has a musty, funky smell....like sweaty, moldy sweat socks -which might be drinkable but you have to hold your nose to get it down.
Fifteen or so years and the only thing I miss about Yonkers was the ability to drink the water straight from the faucet. Now,it's safety might be something else, but was quite drinkable. View Comment
Y'all can't have it both ways- if something did actually happen and several people who were detained later could not be arrested.
As for people from Conn. getting tickets for going '5 ' miles over the limit.... where are you driving?? Most people on the roads in Westchester County are going 20+ miles over the speed limit....if the cop only have you 5, you lucked out. I've been stopped while other people were flying by...it sucks but it wasn't 'wrong'.....sheet happens dude.
You can't be mad about them catching you breaking the law....just own up to it and let them do their job. You could just Not break the law and move along. View Comment
It's getting old with the raising of the taxes due to the schools. I want to know where the money is going... these kids go to school and in 5 years of Peekskill attendance, he's had a book only one and for one class. WTF am I paying for if he can't even get a book to bring home to study with??? View Comment
Are you serious?? Robin, where do you live that such disgusting things are going on??
People like that need to get a clue and get a life. Yelling at people because of their race or their political choices is gross :( I hate to think that I am living in a state and country that houses those types of people. View Comment
Robin, if you ever decide to run for office here in NY, you'd probably have my vote. Rarely have I seen such clear understanding of things how they are as opposed to how someone tells us they are.

A few more hint for Republicans wanting to improve their standing for future elections...
1. Don't block the president (regardless of party) at every turn, promising to make sure nothing of his goes through and ending up make all of the people in this country suffer. We tend to remember that...a LOT! And we don't blame it on the president... get it?
2. Keep your moronic male politicians out of womens' issues. You don't know what it's like to be raped, and you probably never will. So STFU about it.
3. Same thing about contraception... if you don't want to use it, don't! But don't make it the cornerstone of your campaign... if that and rape being a divine thing is all you have to talk about, you need to go somewhere else... perhaps the middle east could use your "brilliance".
4. Remember, that in the end, there are over 300,000,000 people in this country that are All affected by the decisions you make (or don't make). Stop the lobbyists from deciding what happens to us... stand up and... you know, Take a Stand. View Comment
Okay, this was a total mess! The roads were not prepared for the storm, neither it seems were the drivers of cars... come on people, we've had almost 2 weeks of warnings that this storm was coming-put your snow tires on or stay off the roads!
I can't tell you how many little cars I saw sliding away down roads, off to the sides of the roads or down embankments because they couldn't handle the roads.
Yes, the roads were totally unprepared- it appeared that there were no salting trucks nor plows for the entire 90 minute trip last night...one that usually takes me 30-40 minutes.
And yes, I know- people had to get out to work and a lot of them must have been usually transit people, so not used to driving maybe... I'm sure a lot of them had bosses that said, you don't come in, you don't get paid... (and then said, stay off the roads people... ahem, yeah, right) but safety has to be number 1... and last night an awful lot of people made a hazardous trip much more so for their fellow drivers.
