Can we always believe them? Does money influence their judgment? After 50 years or more of fluoridation, many cities and states suffer major rates of tooth decay. It certainly is not a secret. Europe is 97% fluoride free, and the WHO has found that their decay rates are better than the US and other fluoridated countries. As you say "it is not a silver bullet cure," but worse than just being ineffective, it is dangerous to health. Over 1200 studies (80 pages) show the ineffectiveness and dangers to health including cancer, thyroid & pineal gland damage, broken hips from brittle bones, lowered IQ, kidney disease, arthritis and other serious health problems. If you like fluoride, it is legal and available, help yourself. Otherwise, don't add it to drinking water and force everyone to consume a poisonous drug. Citizens already pay for their drinking water. They should not have to pay again for bottled water or the expensive filters to remove fluoride. SIMPLE SOLUTION: 1. Take the toxic waste fluoride chemical out of the drinking water. 2. It is still legal and available, so those who wish to take it can then put fluoride tablets in their glass of water. 3. Leave the rest of us out of it, giving everyone the freedom of choice. PROBLEM SOLVED FOR EVERYONE. There is another method of distribution of fluoride which is even much cheaper Purchase one tanker truck of this toxic waste Hexafluorosilicic acid fluoride for a few dollars and instead of putting it in drinking water, park the truck at city hall and give it out free to anyone who wants it. When 99 1/2% is no longer wasted down the drain in toilets, showers, dishwashers, etc., one truck would probably last 5 to 10 years or more. The CDC reports that in the U.S., fluoride causes 41% of all children (which prorates to over 50% in fluoridated communities) to have damaged enamel, called dental fluorosis. In this group, 10% to 15% have such severe tooth damage that the dental repair costs from $10,000 to $30,000, and up to $100,000 over a lifetime. Studies report that minority and poor children are damaged the most by fluoride. That is why national Black and Hispanic leaders have spoken out against it. The families have to pay this cost. Why won't the dental community or the government agencies which forces everyone to consume this poison volunteer to pay for this damage? A much cheaper method to distribute fluoride, allowing freedom of choice, is to purchase one tanker truck of this toxic waste fluoride (Hexafluorosilicic acid, which is waste material flushed directly from industrial smokestacks) for a few dollars and instead of putting it in drinking water, park the truck at city hall and give out fluoride free to anyone who wants it. Only 5% of the world uses fluoridation because many large studies show fluoridation is totally ineffective in improving tooth decay and is dangerous to health (See fluoridealert.org). Only eight countries in the world actually fluoridate tap water. The citizens of these countries also have the distinction of having the highest rates of arthritis and thyroid disease, both side effects of excessive ingestion of fluoride. The World Health Organization studied 16 countries and showed fluoride is of no value for teeth. Europe has rejected it and is 98% fluoride free. Also India, Japan, China and most countries now reject it. Fluoridation is a waste of tax money. As a Civil Engineer, I know that people drink only 1/2% (one-half percent) of the water they use. The remaining 99 ½ % of the water with the toxic fluoride chemical is dumped directly into the environment (pollution) through the sewer system in toilets, showers, washing machines, dish washers, etc. For each $1000 annually to add the fluoride chemical, $995 is directly wasted down the drain, $5 is consumed in water by the people, and $0.50 (fifty cents)  is consumed by children, the target group for this outdated practice. So, $1,000 is spent annually to deliver $0.50 (fifty cents) of this drug to children. This waste is comparable to buying one gallon of milk, using six-and-one-half drops of it, and pouring the rest of the gallon in the sink. View Comment

Fluoride is neither a nutrient nor essential for healthy teeth. No adult has ever walked out of their doctor's office with a prescription for the fluoride drug because it is deadly poison and the body has no known use for it. It is never included in any multi-vitamin formulation. Drinking it to prevent tooth decay is as foolish as drinking sunscreen to prevent sunburn.
