MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. – Nearly a month after its grand opening, the Art Garage at Grand Prix New York in Mount Kisco is already painting its footprint on Northern Westchester’s creative canvas.
Nearly 100 people attended the Friday, Sept. 20 ribbon cutting in which local residents, art enthusiasts, families, and staff came to see what the new art center has to offer. Many came away impressed with the community’s latest addition.
“Art Garage is a must see for any parent looking for something fun to do with their child,” Armonk resident Liane Fiore Rigano said. “I brought my 10-year-old son to the grand opening and he had a blast getting creative. He tie-dyed a T-shirt, made his own 'Wish A Friend' stuffed animal, and decorated a cupcake. It was a really fun experience for both of us.”
The Art Garage is now open for team-building events, parties for all ages, and walk-ins. It offers paint-your-own pottery, jewelry making, tie dye, glass fusion, mosaics, and cake decorating. In November, the it will release its class schedule, with offerings for children and adults, including: Art and Yoga, Cake Pop Decorating, Pinterest Comes True, Jewelry 101, Facial Fun Drawing, Wine-bottle and Waden-making.
“It’s exciting that the Art Garage has been so well-received, and that we’re already getting walk-in traffic, requests for parties and events, and hearing suggestions for new additions to make,” said GPNY Vice President Nat Mundy. “We always want Grand Prix to be a destination where families, friends and corporate groups can enjoy time together doing whatever it is they love, all under one roof.”
Among the ribbon-cutting attendees: Mount Kisco Mayor Michael Cindrich; George Oros, Chief of Staff for County Executive Rob Astorino; Assemblyman David Buchwald; and Legislator Peter Harckham. Oros presented Samantha Albright, who came up with the idea for the Art Garage, with a Certificate of Achievement.
“Grand Prix was always an amazing entertainment destination, but my daughter, who loves drawing and painting, recognized that the one thing missing was a place where kids and adults could go to explore their creative, artistic side," Albright said. "It's wonderful to see her idea turned into this amazing new Art Garage. With so many options, it’s got something for everyone – and now Grand Prix truly has everything!”
