MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. MTK Tavern in Mount Kisco is celebrating the 2012 Summer Olympics in its own way: with a donation to the Hudson Valley Region of the Special Olympics.
For the Summer Olympic Games' two-week duration, from July 27 to Aug. 12, MTK Tavern will give a percentage of all its proceeds to the Special Olympics NY's Hudson Valley office.
As this year's games take place, guests of the restaurant can enjoy live entertainment, hearty pub food and a variety of beer, wine and cocktails, all while contributing to a good cause.
I am thrilled to support Special Olympics NY and raise awareness for the great work they do in the Hudson Valley region, said Jeffrey Rosen, proprietor of MTK Tavern.
The summer menu at MTK features a With Your Hands section of dishes including a spicy beef short rib, a foot-long hotdog with jalapeno puree, barbecue pulled pork sliders and fish tacos.
The menu's With Your Fork section offers chicken cooked Osso Bucco-style over risotto, steamed mussels in a spicy tomato broth and rare, seared tuna with wasabi sauce.
Patrons can support the charity while sipping MTK's signature cocktails, like the MTK Martini, made with Hendricks gin, white grape juice, white balsamic vinegar and simple syrup.
In business since April, Rosen, a resident of Mount Kisco, said he believes it is essential to make a strong commitment to become involved in the community and the causes that are important to his customers.
I believe it is always important to give back to the community, Rosen said.
MTK Tavern, at 30 E. Main St., opens at 11:30 a.m. seven days a week and hosts live music from local bands every week from Wednesday through Saturday.
