Mt. Kisco Glass Closes After 60 Years In Business

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- After 60 years of service, Mt. Kisco Glass closed this month.

The business, which was opened in 1955 by Tony Catalano Sr., was subsequently owned and inherited by his sons, Tony Catalano Jr. and Dominick Catalano.

“Just time to go, time to close," Tony Catalano Jr. said about the decision, which is a retirement for the brothers.

The pair worked in the shop since they were kids. The business had three locations over the decades before moving to its third home on Lexington Avenue in 1978, which the brothers also own.

The brothers grew up in White Plains; currently, Tony Catalano Jr. lives in Yorktown while Dominick Catalano lives in South Salem.

Mt. Kisco Glass, Tony Catalano Jr. recalled, started off mostly in auto glass before expanding into window screenings, mirrors, table tops and doors.

A walk into the building's front lobby showed that family members were also die-hard Mets fans. The room was strewn with team memorabilia, including old tickets and two seats that were saved from the now-demolished Shea Stadium. Also visible is a replica of a donation brick in the family's name, which was issued in connection with the building of Citi Field.
