The New Castle Town Board approved last week a $122,660 bid to Meli Contracting Co., Inc. of Queens to enhance the foundation of the building, which is 111 years old, the report said.
The town expects the work to be completed by the end of September and then interior modifications could begin for the eatery, the Examiner News reported. Negotiations for a lease agreement for the space are ongoing.
Via Vanti!, which offers Italian cuisine including gelato, has been at the Mt. Kisco train station for about five years. Earlier this year, the restaurant owner told the town the potential Chappaqua location would offer small-plate offerings, rather than full-plate entrees due to the electric equipment available in that building, according to the Examiner News.
