Northern Westchester Hospital Honors Dr. Anita Grover At Gala

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. – Dr. Anita Grover came to Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco in 1982 and immediately felt as if she found a new home. She still gets that same feeling more than three decades later.

Grover was selected by Northern Westchester Hospital to be this year’s physician honoree at its annual gala, which was held at the Saw Mill Club in Mount Kisco.

Grover, an Ob-Gyn physician, came to Northern Westchester Hospital after working in New York City. She was immediately impressed.

“The entire community has always been nice, thankful and appreciative of the care,’’ Dr. Grover said.

Grover has supported the hospital through a variety of charitable endeavors. She’s particularly fond of the Ob-Gyn Physicians’ Lounge along with the lounge for Labor and Delivery Nurses.

The lounges were created about eight years ago, and were completely financed by Grover and her husband. She even hired a friend from Florida as the interior decorator for the project.

“I felt like I owed it to the department,’’ Grover said. “The hospital helped me become a popular physician. It was a natural progression to give back to the hospital.”

Grover said she enjoys supporting the hospital through charitable contributions and donating time to various causes for the hospital. She is a Northern Westchester Hospital Foundation Board member and is committed to making the hospital a community treasure.

“I’ve always believed patients receive high-quality medical care here,’’ she said. “The nurses have always been outstanding, along with the doctors and the entire staff. I feel like people are personally involved.”

Grover said she was surprised when she learned she was going to be honored at the gala, which raised funds for the new surgical suite, which includes six new operating rooms and a 14-bed post-anesthesia care unit, at Northern Westchester Hospital.

She was recognized for her dedication to practicing medicine with clinical excellence, compassion and integrity, as well as her philanthropic leadership and generosity to the hospital.

When Grover came to Mount Kisco, she was one of the few women working in the profession and was the first female board certified Ob-Gyn to maintain a practice in Northern Westchester. She is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, New York State Medical Society and Westchester County OB/GYN Society.

Dr. Grover is proud to be part of the team at Northern Westchester Hospital, and enjoys the relationships she has developed with patients, physicians and hospital staff over the years.

“It has been great to work here as long as I have,’’ she said. “Doctors want to go work at a good hospital. I believe we have that here.”
