Beeson is a student assistance counselor at Fox Lane High School and chairperson of the coalition’s Youth Committee.
“Supporters of Lauren, including students, are planning to attend the School Board meeting Wednesday evening to advocate for her. I hope many of you will be interested and able to attend as well,” said Nan Miller, co-coordinator of the Mt. Kisco Drug Prevention Council -- one of 60 coalitions nationwide to receive the Drug Free Communities grant .
Beeson’s support will mark the second consecutive BCSD board meeting in which a district employee slated to be cut from next year’s budget has attended to vouch for their jobs to be kept in the budget.
Bedford Elementary librarians recently spoke to the school board about how crucial their roles are in the education process and that cutting elementary librarians out of the school district would be "unthinkable."
With the budget in its preliminary stage, cuts can still be changed. The district has “a little bit a wiggle room” to look at some cuts more closely, Superintendent Jere Hochman said last month and encouraged public feedback on the plan.
The public has certainly taken Hochman up on his offer and will continue to do so Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in the Fox Lane Middle School’s little theater.
