MOUNT KISCO, N.Y.--An estimated 996 out of 5,075 Con Edison customers are still without power in Mount Kisco as of 5:30 p.m., Thursday, down from 1,013 Thursday morning, according to Con Ed outage maps.
Con Edison said Thursday afternoon that, based on an assessment of the damage caused by Hurricane Sandy, it expects that by the weekend of Nov. 10 and 11, it will be able to restore power for the vast majority of its total customer base. The remaining customer restorations could take an additional week or more, according to the company.
Westchester County Executive Robert Astorino spoke Thursday with Con Ed President Craig Ivey, according to a news release.
“We certainly understand that Con Edison is dealing with an unprecedented amount of storm damage and power outages in our county and in the region,” Astorino said in a statement. “The county is offering whatever help it can, but we are also pushing to make sure Con Edison is doing everything possible on its end to restore power in Westchester as quickly as possible.”
The utility company also distributed dry ice at seven locations throughout the area on Thursday, incliuding at the IBM Complex/Town Park in Armonk and at Yonkers Raceway.
Authorities are asking customers to report outages and downed wires to Con Edison and not through local emergency service lines. Customers can call 1-800-75-CONED (1-800-752-6633). Customers who report outages will be called by Con Edison with their estimated restoration times as they become available.
