MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- Mount Kisco officials are receptive to updating the village’s master plan.

The document, which covers zoning, is called the comprehensive plan, according to Mayor Michael Cindrich, who is supportive of an update.

The last time an updated was completed was in 2000, Cindrich mentioned.

The topic was mentioned briefly during the Village Board of Trustees’ July 14 meeting, specifically about pursuing grant funding for it.

Discussing why an update would be done, Cindrich cited making sure zoning is correct. A hypothetical example he gave would be for changing zoning if there were more requests for medical uses instead of to office uses. Discussing land use, the mayor also brought up proposals from developers for putting residential in the downtown area.

During the last update there were committees and mailings to residents, according to Cindrich. He also noted that the current plan recommends doing an update “periodically” and referred to it as “way overdue.”

If Mount Kisco starts the process, it would not be the only Northern Westchester community doing so. New Castle is undertaking its own master plan update. According to media reports, officials in North Castle and Bedford have also discussed it.
