YONKERS, N.Y. Rosario L. Lando, a former Yonkers resident of Carlisle, Mass., died July 8 after a battle against cancer. He was 86.
Lando was born Aug. 6, 1925, in New York City to Rosario and Benedetta Ragusa Lando. He was married to the late Anne Mondello Lando for 48 years. He worked as comptroller for LaSala Construction Co. in New Rochelle for many years. Lando was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Mount Vernon and St. Mary's Church in Fishkill, N.Y.
He is survived by a daughter, Bernadette, of Yonkers; four sons, Rosario R., of Mount Vernon, Carman (Mary), of Hopewell Junction, Christopher (Margaret), of Short Hills, N.J., and Peter (Michelle), of Carlisle; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Lando was predeceased by three brothers, Anthony, Salvatore and Joseph; and a sister, Theresa (Caserta).
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Yannantuono Burr Davis Sharpe Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:45 a.m. Friday at St. John the Baptist Church in Yonkers. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
