BEDFORD, N.Y. – The Bedford Central Board of Education has selected Mount Kisco resident Edward Reder to fill the seat vacated by Lee Goldstein, who resigned in August,  because she and her family moved to another state.

The selection comes after the board simultaneously interviewed three candidates , including Reder, on Sept. 18.

“I am excited about serving on the Board and advancing the educational experience for all of our students and demonstrating ongoing fiscal responsibility to our community,” Reder said in a statement.

School board President Susan Wollin said Reder has big shoes to fill but the board is confident he can fill the void.

“Replacing Ms. Lee Goldstein and her service, commitment, experience and her understanding of the Bedford Central School District was a big task,” she said. “We are confident Mr. Reder will step in and dedicate himself to contributing to the work of the Board immediately.  We would like to thank all of the candidates; the community is fortunate to have talented citizens willing to participate in this process and to volunteer their time in service to the school district."

Reder is currently employed in human resources consulting and sales with Workday Inc., a human capital management and financial management software vendor.  He previously served as a legislative aide in the New York State Assembly for three years working with the Department of Education and school board associations.  He also has over twenty years of corporate experience, including general manager with executive leadership responsibilities for budget planning, staffing and all facets of the operations of running a company.

Reder will fill the seat until the school board election and budget vote in May 2014.
