Mt. Kisco Club To Host High School Tennis Showcase

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. – High school tennis players from throughout United States Tennis Association Eastern will take part in the organization’s 26th annual College Showcase Day at the Saw Mill Club in Mount Kisco on Nov. 11.

The showcase is open to juniors and seniors and provides them with a chance to participate in matches and drills to show off their skills. Speakers will lead seminars about opportunities to play tennis in college, and college coaches will also be in attendance.

Professional tennis player and doubles specialist Eric Butorac will give a special presentation at the event. Butorac is an assistant coach on the Harvard University men’s tennis team and has won 13 professional titles in his career.

Butorac will discuss the expectations of college coaches during the recruiting process and will offer tips for students.

Author, sportscaster and recruiting expert Charlie Adams will also offer advice for students to succeed in college tennis.

“For 26 years, the College Showcase has been a great opportunity for students who want to play on a college tennis team to learn the unique ins and outs of the recruiting process,” said Julie Bliss, director of competition and player development for USTA Eastern. “Last year over 110 students demonstrated their skills to coaches who are interested in adding quality players to their college teams, and this year, we are fortunate to have a college coach who has played college and professional tennis, and can share his wealth of experience and advice with juniors from across the section.”

Students who take part in the showcase can meet with recruiting representatives.

The Saw Mill Club will host the event for the second straight year.
