Pedestrian Hit By Vehicle, Killed In Toms River: Prosecutors
A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed in Toms River, authorities said. In a news release, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said the pedestrian was hit near the intersection of Route 166 and Hilltop Road. The crash happened at around 8:25 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1. Toms River police said the crash closed Route 166 between Lomell Lane and Mapletree Road. A man was airlifted to the hospital after crashing his pickup in Ocean County, authorities said. Berkeley Township police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Dover Road near the Lacey Township border at around 3:51 p.m. on Tuesday, Apr. 30, the department said in a news release. Two drivers were hospitalized with serious injuries after a crash in South Jersey, authorities said. On Wednesday, May 1 at approximately 9 p.m., Gloucester Township police responded to Sicklerville Road near Kings Road for a crash involving two vehicles. A fiery explosion left one woman dead and four others hurt at a manufacturing company in Old Bridge on Wednesday, May 1, authorities said. Eileen Marco, 73, of South River, was killed at the scene of the explosion at Superior Signal Company, LLC in Old Bridge at approximately 11:20 a.m., Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said. A toddler who walked alone across a busy Ocean County road was rescued by good Samaritans, authorities said.
